Fin Dac hails from Cork city, Ireland but has lived the majority of his life in London. Self-taught and non-conformist, his influences range from dark graphic novels through to the works of Francis Bacon and Aubrey Beardsley. A regular at exhibitions and painting events alike, he paints/exhibits alongside respected artists such as Nick Walker, Goldie, Jamie Reid, Jef Aerosol and C215; when not out in the streets painting, he fills the hours with his job as Artistic Director at urban/digital art brand ‘Beautiful Crime’. He uses considerable skill in the execution of an unusual spitting technique that makes his contribution to this arena significant. In a relatively short, but exceptionally busy, urban art career, Fin Dac has defined and perfected an atypical paint/stencil style that ignores the accepted visual language of street art almost completely. His art – he calls it Urban Aesthetics (a modern-day take on a 19th century art movement) – is no intended to make big statements, no social or political commentary. His work is all about beauty and aesthetics and the need for those in the urban landscape.
