Most of the people visiting Budapest never pay to much visits in Pest on the other side of the Danube. Except the castle. And this is totally wrong, because this part of the city is really interesting by several points ov view. First of all, you can better understand the lifestyle of the hungarians, as most of the commun people lives in this area and not the downtown of the city. You can also have a great view of the Hungarian Parliment building from this side of the Danube river, and also you can easily achieve the Rudas baths too.
We really suggest you for to have a lunch or a nice dinner at BEM restaurant which is located just 5 minutes walk once you across the Margit bridge. Relaxing atmosphere, very nice and honest people.
You can really have afordable prices and eat the real authentic Hungarian food (which in the downtown is more expensive and “made for turists”, so in terms of the food quality is really different.
And don’t forget at the end to ask for a desert the “Bem Rudy teszta” which is their original cake, that is just delicious!!! The restaurant which is open 11-24h is located at the address below. You can easily call or mail to reserve your table.
