When looking at social and lifestyle trends over the last decade, certain patterns emerge. In fact, some of todays hottest designers are jumping on the bandwagon; introducing their own lines of technology-inspired furniture. For example, this past spring renowned design company, Knoll International teamed up with French architects, Pierre Beucler and Jean-Christophe Poggioli to debut their innovative and technology-inspired “Lounge Collection”. The sleek design features a small ledge attached to the side of the collection’s chairs and sofas, offering a perfect resting spot for small, electronic devices. The concept is based on the needs of today’s contemporary consumer, buyers who are typically younger, more style conscious and, because technology is an integral part of their lives, are increasingly tech savvy. Adding “big style to even the smallest living room,” the Lounge Collection offers an armchair, two and three seat sofas, a chaise lounge and an ottoman, that surround the sitter in a fully-upholstered envelope of comfort, in high and low orientations. Interior designers Beucler and Poggioli, as Paris-base Architecture & Associés, have worked for the likes of Comme des Garçons, Christian Dior, and Lanvin, and are designing the Museum of Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Antiquities at the Louvre.
