elsinki Pride was the biggest GLBT event in Finland. With its over 10 000 visitors also one the biggest week-long events in Helsinki. It was organised by Helsingin seudun SETA ry, a non-profit GLBT organisation in Helsinki. Helsinki Pride consists of parties, meetings and discussions, highlight being the Pride Parade across the city centre. The free expression of one´s sexuality and gender as well as the promotion of rainbow subcultures were at the core of the festival agenda. The challenge in Helsinki Pride was in bringing different kinds of people together to discuss and debate even on some touchy subjects. There is not just one right way of being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered. Diversity, it´s promotion and strengthening was one of Helsinki Pride´s main goals. Mayor of Helsinki Jussi Pajunen opens Helsinki Pride in the heart of the city. We invite you to visit the Heliski Pride website for more information.
