EXCELSIOR MILANO : A Unique Concept Store In Milan

Excelsior Milano is a seven-floor concept store brought to you by Italian retailer Gruppo Coin and French starchitect Jean Nouvel. The project began with Nouvel’s effort to save the former Cinema Excelsior, efforts which resulted in rotating one sheets from classic and cult movies lighting up the exterior marquees. Milan’s old Excelsior cinema has now risen to new heights as the new icon of worldwide shopping. Fashion, beauty, accessories, food and design mingle together in the historic building at Galleria del Corso 4, in the heart of Milan; now completely renovated by acclaimed starchitect Jean Nouvel. 4000 sqm in one area divided over 7 floors and inside an architectural casing of ribbon-like video installations that create a kaleidoscopic effect, and a network of floating lifts and travelators. An area filled with energy, where ideas and suggestion flow into one another, chosen by a team of avant-garde selectors and prestigious partners. Upon entering Excelsior shoppers will discover the vast beauty department and corners from Laduree, Tiffany & Co. and Valextra luggage.  Above the ground level, the first floor contains contemporary threads from American labels like Rag & Bone, Helmut Lang, Vince and Theysken’s Theory. The second (men’s) and third (women’s) floors are curated by revered Milanese boutique owner Antonia Giacinti. The Antonia floors are a fashion lover’s playground stocking a mix of designer wares ranging from Balmain and Maison Martin Margiela to Band of Outsiders and Altuzarra. The top floor contains of bevy of women’s accessories  from Pierre Hardy, Christian Louboutin, Givenchy and a Manolo Blahnik shop-in-shop. After some light (or heavy) shopping, gourmands can whet their appetites browsing through Excelsior’s basement level gourmet grocer or have a meal at Eat’s, a slow food bistro located on the mezzanine. Interior design by Vincenzo De Cotiis. Art and Video Direction by Marco Braga. Visual Merchandising by Jo Ann Tan. Content Video by Matt Pyke. Sound Identity by Stefano Fontana. Buying Consultant Maurizio Purificato. The store is open daily from 10 AM to 8:30PM. Hope to see 5election magazine inside this concept store soon.
