“Losing You” is a song recorded by American recording artist Solange Knowles for her upcoming yet-untitled third studio album. It was written by Dev Hynes and Knowles, with production helmed by the former under his pseudonym Blood Orange along with Kevin Barnes. Serving at the lead single from the album, the song was released for digital download on October 2, 2012 and November 6, 2012 in Vinyl[1] via Terrible Records, a label co-run by Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor. “Losing You” is a R&B song with pop and electronic music. The song received universal acclaim from music critics. The single’s accompanying music video was directed by Melina Matsoukas and shot at multiple locations in the township of Langa in Cape Town, South Africa. Following the release, “Losing You” peaked at number 22 on the UK Indie Chart.
The song later debuted at 155 on the UK Singles Chart on the week of 22 December 2012. Solange is just a puppet for Beyonce to play out her counter-cultural musical fantasies on. She does have “indie” music street cred and style–but “Losing You” was her time to explode as a legit musician. Produced by all-the-rage-now Blood Orange (who also did Ferreira’s “Everything Is Embarrassing”), the song is the happiest breakup/breakdown song. It’s essentially the cool kid party song answer to “Since U Been Gone.” If it hasn’t ruled house parties you’ve been to last year, it will this year as it trickles down. Just leasten it and watch the beautiful video bellow, than go to buy this music.
