TATJANA PLITT’S “GAY WARRIORS” SERIES

Australian photographer Tatjana Plitt is currently working on a project called Gay Warriors, photographing same-sex couples in the military. She aims to raise awareness of how gay soldiers and their families are struggling due to The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and the discriminatory policies of the Department of Defense. By sharing their stories, these photographs give the wider community and key decision makers an opportunity to connect with these brave service members on a personal level. She would like to create a series of at least 50 portraits. In order to find the financial support to continue photographing same-sex military couples all around the USA, Tatjana Plitt had launched a Kickstarter fundraising campaign, which ended Christmas Eve 2012. The funds already raised are going towards travel expenses as she travels around the USA continuing to photograph same-sex military couples. The funds she is still raising on her website will go towards putting together a traveling exhibition and a book of the final series.
