ZILDA’S ART: Between Street Art And Classicism

Žilda is a French self-taught street artist from Rennes. He uses the street as a “décor” to contextualize his characters painted on large paperboards. His techniques include stencils, drawing, graphics, engraving, printmaking and painting. Drawing his inspiration from famous or not so famous classical artists, he brings Renaissance and Baroque art out from the museum, down to the streets. His work is not intentionally politically or ideologically focused, but aims to produce an emotion by the means of an unexpected rereading of the street space: in front of urban degradation, art and beauty still maintain their provocative role. He worked throughout Europe, mostly in France, Germany and Italy; lately, you can see many of his installations in Rome and Naples.
