TREE PROJECTIONS IN CAMBODIA By Clément Briend

French photographer Clément Briend is playing with projections as a photographic exploration of his surroundings. He works with this medium in very unusual modalities, that propose another interpretation, another perception of pictures.Using homemade prototypes, he is able to project huge scaled pictures on trees, houses, walls and whatever suits him. Like this he creates hybrides spaces, forms his imaginary and finally takes pictures of it. His photographs matches reality and projection, space and surface. They aren’t only flat representation of things but a mirror of our mind which is projected in his pictures. Cambodian culture is deeply rooted in a spirituality – marked by a belief in genii and fantasy creatures. In a dark cityscape, night reveals the presence of divine creatures on trees and subsequently makes them alive and real. Such nocturnal visions allow us to grasp the way magic profoundly influences how Cambodian people perceive the world. For more information follow the link bellow.
