Italian Technogym company has celebrated the opening of the Technogym Village, the new company headquarters, including a Research & Innovation laboratory, the production facilities and a large wellness centre dedicated to physical exercise and education. The opening ceremony was held in the presence of the President of Italy, Mr. Giorgio Napolitano and former President of the United States Mr. Bill Clinton. The attending delegates comprised of representatives from educational institutions, leading business figures and some of the most eminent global authorities in the world of fashion, science and medicine (about 800 people).
The new Technogym HQ aims to be the first Wellness Campus in the world, and has as its centrepiece a factory designed to allow its employees in Cesena benefit from the optimum working environment geared towards maximising their physical well-being. The new headquarters were designed by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners, a renowned Italian architecture studio and includes a research and innovation laboratory, state-of-the-art production facilities alongside a wellness centre dedicated to physical activity.
This project marks 30 years since the company was founded by President Nerio Allessandri and will become the point of reference for the wellness industry worldwide. The Technogym Village will be the hub where sporting and fitness equipment is designed and developed to offer new solutions for health clubs, hotels, corporate locations and medical facilities across the globe.
“The Americans have invented the fitness, we invented the wellness … after more than 25 years of commitment to the development of Technogym and for the dissemination of the philosophy of wellness around the world, our entrepreneurial dream continues, and Technogym Village is the starting point for the future of Technogym,” said Nerio Alessandri, president and founder of Technogym. Just twenty years ago, he create the first rudimentary gymnastic equipment.
In the afternoon the 20th Wellness Congress, entitled “Let’s Move for a better world” in which there was talk of Wellness as a social opportunity. A Round Table entitled ‘The Economy Wellness: Healthy People Healthy Planet’, involving: professionals, institutions, media, opinion leaders, doctors, sports champions and entrepreneurs. Among the speakers there are also an important panel of doctors from all over the world, Italian Ministers, Executive Director of the World Food Programme Ertharin Cousin and David Rowan from Wired Magazine.
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton who finished the event with his speech by saying: “I would like to come and work here in Technogym I love this job,” and went on to say: “There is a better future but serves the ‘optimism of a young and creative as Technogym “and adds,” I share the themes of wellness, because all over the world and especially in my country one of the biggest problems facing the company is childhood obesity”.
