Phil Procter is a British furniture & product designer. In autumn 2011 Phil launched his debut collection of contemporary and considered objects for the home. The emphasis of Phil’s work is to create charming and functional products to be used and enjoyed on a daily basis. They are designed with quality and longevity in mind; through combining in house production with outsourcing to local manufacturers, all his products are British made. Phil was trained at Bucks New University (National School of furniture) on the contemporary design course, graduating in 2010. Whilst studying Phil enjoyed professional studio experience in London (Julia Lohmann) and Rotterdam (Chris Kabel) and had his furniture exhibited and commissioned internationally. Phil now runs his own design studio in York, U.K where he continues to further his own practise and take on all manners of freelance work, private and commercial commissions. The Quello table was designed in response to a brief set by esteemed British manufacturer, Ercol furniture. Designed with a contemporary and minimalist aesthetic, the pieces aim to lighten up and calm the atmosphere of a room. The table can be paired with the stool to function as a writing desk, or used alone as an occasional table in hallways and vestibules. The top of the table slides both ways allowing one to reach the storage underneath without disturbing objects on the surface. The furniture has been lovingly hand crafted by Ercol at their Princes Risbrough factory.
Functioning primarily as a laptop table Gallo creates a temporary and elegant lounge office. It also has a small shelf to store current reading material.
Through a reappraisal of the shaker peg board, Pippin aims to utilise the wall space in our homes, creating a flexible and functional system of products which aid our domestic activities. By adjusting the height of the rails and the choice of products, one can create hanging scenarios to assist the common activities of that area, e.g. a bedside rail with a bookrest and nightlight. Although the range has a contrast of materials, all products are softened and unified through their details and colour, just as the shakers intended.
