Recently we have seen the new collection from Moleskine designed by Giulio Lachetti with focus on “reading, writing and travel. You’ll find various objects in these collections. They include bags, pens, pencils, reading glasses, cases, reading stands and USB rechargeable booklights. They will join the existing collections of legendary Moleskine notebooks and planners as a complete set of tools for cultural pleasure and mobile living. We appreciate a lot the new Moleskine’s adventure, and to be honest, the collection is very well designed by Giulio Lacchetti. He made a very good interpretation of the Moleskine classic design.
The only problem is…THE QUALITY. The company provide for a very cheap PVC coated material to produce the bags, so when they are new, they looks nice…but after a wilde you discover a very low quality product. Who knows why the company didn’t provide to outsource or to licence this collection to a leather industry ? Especially in Italy were the company is based they are several leather / bags industry searching for cooperations.
Is that because of the price? Well… just as the legendary Moleskine, we don’t expect from the company a cheap item, but a medium-high level with a great quality. Let’s wait to see what will reserve the future to this collection. However we send our compliments to Giulio Lacchetti for his great design work and hope that Moleskine staff will provide for a better business developer.
