Born in Shanghai China, he worked as a design engineer in Auto industry in China. In 2008 he moved to London to study fashion footwear design. During this period he work as a assistant for Jimmy Choo OBE, drew the technical drawing for Vivienne Westwood Global and also design furniture for Paul Smith. Now he launched his own brand in London and have as key product “reversal” shoes, which used deconstruction theory into footwear design. The concept is “two shoes into one”. “NCHEN4” first collection is based on the theory of deconstruction. The collection has two stages. The first stage is to put two shoes details into one shoe in order to create a different shoe shape and feature. The second stage he developed is the concept of keeping the design of shoes low-key and also add a function in it which is reversable. The reversal of shoes shows that shoes can be worn equally in two ways, as some functional garments (inside out). In addition, the concept of reversal not only poses an innovative side of footwear design sector, but also is likely to become a profitable and invest-worthy concept in the footwear marketing sector. On the other hand, another advantage of the project is the sustainability and eco-friendly concept, which means by making the shoes wearable in two ways (both inside and outside) it could save a certain amount of materials. Furthermore, the surface and appearance of the shoes inside has also been improved and may become a design focus point in the future.
