Parents who resort to driving the streets to help settle their babies in the middle of the night have had their prayers answered with a new invention that rocks babies to sleep in their own cots. Gold Coast inventor Christopher Mitchell has developed the world’s first remote controlled cot rocker. It consists of four modules, one placed under each leg of the cot, that emulate a car’s suspension and gently rock an unsettled baby to sleep. It’s an invention a long time coming for many new parents with 60 per cent suffering from sleep deprivation and 80 per cent of new mothers reporting that lack of sleep is putting immense strain on their relationships with their partners. Eighty per cent of new parents also claim that dealing with a restless baby has a negative effect on their ability to work during the day. You can choose from four movement choices – mother’s womb, mother’s heartbeat a boat on the water. The Lullabub has a 30-minute timer which ought to be more than enough to get your little one snoozing not a moment too soon. The Lullabub retails for $199 and fits most new/used cots.
