n 2008, designer Toby Ng gathered statistics about the spread of the world population and turned the numbers into a series of 20 posters that prompts each viewer, as a stakeholder in the world’s future, to reflect on the global situation by putting forth this question: If the world were a village of 100 people, how would the composition be? Ng gathered statistics about different characteristics of the world population and turned the numbers into vibrant graphics. This design has gained applause and recognition around the world, including winning the red dot award: communication design 2009, the GDC Awards 2009, the International Design awards 2009 and the HOW International Design Awards 2010. Ng has recently revisited the World with new figures and insights in 2011 and turned the posters into a postcards collection. The book has just been launched and can now be purchased online.
