Maarten van Schaik is a photographer that suggests and read into objects more than he shows them. In his series Car Nudes, the curves and reflections catch our attention as if the original object was not really important. “My work is about mood,color, atmosphere and with that, the notion of” things left behind”, or to put it in a more precise way: “things and places that remain unnoticed in our hectic, everyday lives”. This is a way of imagemaking that I have tried to master and develop through the years, and still I find myself looking for decaying old showers, the light in an empty street and the loneliness of a broken car”.
