ou will find a real Budapest café in the ceremonial hall of the Párizs Department store on the first floor. This huge Károly Lotz hall was restored in its original condition during the reconstructions. The frescos, the glided decorations and wooden inlays give a special shine to the neo-renaissance ambience of the place. Those who prefer skimming albums, can bring some books upstairs from the bookstore on the ground floor and have some quiet moments with a cup of coffee. If you adore historical surroundings and books, this place is the best combination of these. This café is hardly your average eatery: it’s located inside a bookstore, and it looks like the interior of a palace–literally. Its walls are the definition of opulence with their intricate golden designs and large, impressive mirrors. Don’t forget to look up, too, because beautiful chandeliers hang from the fresco-style ceilings! The cafe doesn’t just look good, though; it’s comfortable too, complete with lush, leather armchairs and free wifi. The menu contains small gourmet meals that you might find in a French-style café, like salami sandwiches with goat cheese and salmon on a bagel. The food is surprisingly cheap, too (around 5 USD each!) Lounge and enjoy a light but delicious lunch or sip on one of their fancy caffeinated drinks. Regardless of what you order, you’ll feel like royalty.
