Mustachifier is the result of years-long collaborative effort to make the world a better place – by putting mustaches on babies. We joined the effort back in 2009, when our friend Jessica suggested the idea over a beer one night, at a pub in Brooklyn. Mustachifier is made by FCTRY, a small, happy, family-owned product design company in Brooklyn. FCTRY was conceived of by Jason Feinberg when he was a starving artist living on a friend’s couch in the winter of 2004. Not wanting to miss out on all the fun, Jason’s wife, Alyssa, left her job as a fashion designer in 2008 and joined FCTRY. A year later, Jason’s cousin, Quincy, graduated college and came on board too. And in 2012, things came full circle, when Jason hired his long time friend, Jake, upon whose couch the dream of FCTRY had started. FCTRY collaborates with artists, dreamers, and creative souls throughout the world, turning fun ideas into real products.

It wasn’t always easy. As you might imagine, many people laughed at us along the way. Pretty much everyone actually. But one by one, we managed to convince top-notch industrial designers, engineers, and factories that putting a mustache on a pacifier could – and should – be done. Once we had our team in place, we got down to business. And when it comes to quality, pacifiers are actually pretty serious business. We didn’t want the Mustachifier to be a cheap novelty. Our goal was to create one of the highest quality pacifiers in the world.

That meant scouring the globe to find the very best materials for each little part of the pacifier. From the shield, to the nipple, to the cap, and of course the mustache, each material used in the Mustachifier is best-in-class. Just to be sure, we rigorously tested and retested every element of the product at an accredited US laboratory so it met or exceeded all of the United States safety standards for pacifiers. In December of 2012, the dream finally became a reality. The first Mustachifiers began shipping and it was an instant hit! Our first run sold out in under a month.

Mustachifier is now being sold in thousands of stores throughout the world. Best of all, after all these years, we’re actually doing what we’d set out to do in the first place; putting mustaches on babies. And everyone’s still laughing. As luck would have it, that very same month we had our own baby boy. Our first. We’re happy to say that he will never know a world in which a baby could not have his very own mustache.
