Dutch soul-singer Mar is back, releasing the lead single off his debut solo EP Seeing Her Naked. Our Attempt begins with Drake/The Weeknd style production (fizzling string-pads and gittery Hip-Hop rhythms), which is then brought back down to earth via a blues guitar riff doused in melancholic distortion. The singer has been known on the net for his ingenious remixes to some familiar sounds but has ramped up his musical efforts with his latest offering. The first single, Our Attempt, provided fans with a sophisticated brand of R&B that’s sensuous while maintaining its poetic approach and the EP definitely contains more of the same. Together with Mar’s silky vocals, the track is a beautiful example of what the future holds for RnB and Soul music, joining other forward-thinking artists like A new Full Crate and Mar album can be expected by the end of this year.
