VILLEMARD’S VISION OF THE FUTURE (1910-2000)

t’s always interesting to see how artists, scientists and thinkers imagined the year 2000. Sometimes the visions were so out there and a bit crazy (We’re looking at you 80s sci-fi movies) but many times they were also spot on. Eeven though many pieces are a bit far fetched some of them have really nailed current technology. Considering how fast our technology is advancing who knows what we will be doing in 100 years from now. French National Library (BNF) has this amazing collection of prints from 1910 depicting life in 2000. They are credited to Villemard. Back in 1910, Villemard began to predict the future on paper. With every brushstroke, elegant picture of the future is alive. It’s amazing some very accurate with these paintings. Of course, we do not have private wings or flying machine first, and the cars were slightly different as well. However, the overall look of 2000 is quite a lot of sense. The accuracy of these images do not exist in the life of the mas, the toys and gadgets gizmos are portrayed in it. Just have a clear look on every detail of this postcards.
