“What is a look-alike? A look-alike, or double, or doppelganger is simply put a person whom other people think is another person. In a play written by the latin author Plauto there is such a character whose name is Sosia and that character is mimicked so well by the god Mercury that even Sosia himself is unsure of who is the real himself”. At first sight Canadian photographer François Brunelle’s pictures appear like conventional family portraits. But it’s all the more astonishing that the people you see on his photos don’t even know each other. The collection, entitled I’m not a look-alike!, features a range of unrelated individuals from North American and European backgrounds, side by side. Mr Brunelle told MailOnline: ‘I found my first subjects simply through people I knew who looked alike. Then as the media covered my project, more people came forward to take part.’ The photographer continues to look for subjects and is inviting people to come forward until he finishes the project . If you happen to have a doppelganger and wish to be included in the project, contact Brunnelle at the link bellow.
