San Francisco-based startup Azoi today unveiled its new two-in-one Wello smartphone case and health tracker, for the clumsy health nut. With sensors integrated into the mobile phone case, users can simply position their fingers on their phone, and take immediate readings of key vitals like blood pressure, electrocardiography (ECG), heart rate, blood oxygen, temperature, lung functions, and more. “Over the last two years, we have focused our efforts on coming up with a technologically advanced yet easy-to-use tool to help you monitor health and facilitate better lifestyle choices,” Azoi CEO Hamish Patel said in a statement.
“We are proud to introduce Wello—a not so small engineering feat in microelectronics, nanosensors, imaging, data analytics and design. The $199 device is available now for pre-order in the U.S., where it is expected to ship in the fall, pending FDA approval. In an effort to expand its advertising base, and entice new buyers, Azoi offers a unique URL with each Wello purchase; share that link with family or friends, and when a Wello is ordered via the URL, you automatically earn a $10 credit.
The case will also launch in Canada, China, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, the U.K., and across the European Union at a later date. “We have effectively put health monitoring equipment, typically in large form factors, into a highly convenient and accessible mobile phone case,” Patel said. Already wear a fitness band or clip-on device? The Wello also connects with other health and fitness machines like pedometers and sleep trackers to identify different behaviors.
